Four-Star Point Guard Recruit Trey Beamer Commits to Boston College

Consensus four-star point guard Trey Beamer committed to Boston College on Friday. Beamer, an IMG Academy graduate, is the first commit in BC’s 2026 recruiting class. The Bradenton, Florida native is ninth in 24/7’s composite 2026 point guard ranking and 86th overall.

Beamer is on the smaller side, standing at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, but his ability to create his own shots at all three levels (at the rim, in the mid-range, and behind the three-point line) made him one of the nation’s top recruits.

“My scoring is definitely my best trait, being able to put the ball in the basket at any point in time,” Beamer said to ZAGSBLOG.

The IMG guard averaged 25.5 points per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc in his 2023-2024 season. His combination of speed and ball handling makes him a nightmare to guard.

He does have room to improve as a floor general. Beamer averaged 2.7 assists compared to 2.4 turnovers in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, a ratio of 1.1 assists per turnover. For reference, if Beamer had that ratio in the NCAA last season, he would rank 348th overall and 7th amongst BC guards (Just behind Roger McFarlane’s 1.4).

Beamer is a big-time get from BC Head Coach Earl Grant, as the four-star guard selected Chestnut Hill over several power five programs: Maryland, Mississippi State, and DePaul. As well, Beamer chose BC over multiple ACC rivals: Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Wake Forest.

The Eagles hope Beamer is the beginning of a big recruiting year for a program that desperately needs a sense of hope and that he will flourish in maroon and gold.

“[I’m] a guy that is going to always compete at a high level,” Beamer said to the Phenom Hoop Report, “I flourish best when I feel like I’m trusted to be myself and being pushed to be my best.”
