Birdball: Beanpot Champions Once More.
By: Luke Ballard
Boston College Baseball (27–12–0, 11–7–0 Atlantic Coast Conference) is bringing home the Beanpot trophy for the first time since 2023, after defeating Boston rival Northeastern 3–1 Tuesday night. This is Boston College’s 16th Beanpot victory, the most out of any school in the competition, while Northeastern comes second with eight.

The last time Boston College brought home Beanpot glory, they advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals in Tuscaloosa, going 2–2 with a narrow 11–10 loss to Troy in game one. BC seems primed for another deep run in the NCAA and ACC tournaments this year, as they have already matched their number of ACC wins from the 2025 season (11), and are just one win short of tying their total wins from 2025 (28).
Luke Gallo continued his strong form, recording two hits and three RBIs last night to help BC secure the win. Over his last three games, the freshman infielder has six hits and five runs batted in, remaining a key contributor with 19 games left on the schedule.
Despite the heavy rain and eventual delay around 9 pm, BC’s pitching put on a clinic against the Huskies. Facing 32 batters, BC’s four-man rotation only allowed one run, five hits, and walked three batters through the full nine innings. Jacob Burnham pitched five innings, while John Kwiatkowski, Gavin Soares, and Andrew Wertz relieved him.
BC’s continues to play their scrapping hit-and-run style of offense, laying down multiple bunts per-game. Although critics have called their style an eye sore, they cannot doubt that it is effective. Expect more of this, as BC will look to grind out teams into long, grueling battles that they can expect to win.
With BC’s dominant performance in the Beanpot, they are full steam ahead into their weekend series, where they face off against ACC rival Duke in a three-game home series. First pitch will be thrown at 3 pm on Friday, as BC looks to continue its impressive ACC performances.
