Women’s Volleyball off to a scorching start

Women’s Volleyball off to a scorching start

By: Ashley Sachdeva

Boston College Women’s Volleyball has had the best start in program history. Coming off of 7 wins and 23 losses last season they have already surpassed their number of wins this year being at an undefeated 9-0. They haven’t played any ACC games and won’t start playing conference games until late September but if they carry this momentum into those games BC is in for a good season.

Last season BC assigned a new head coach, Jason Kennedy, who was a associate head coach for the women’s volleyball team at USC. During his career at USC he lead their team to a record of 75-25 and made 3 NCAA Tournament appearances. Given BC’s record so far, he has already made a huge impact on this team.

Cat Balido (Junior) has been leading the team this season in 78 kills and was named Dartmouth Invitational MVP this past weekend after clinching their 9th-straight win. Along with her,  Jill Strokis (Junior) was named Eagle of the Week last week for her success at the Grand Canyon University Invitational. She led the Eagles with 36 kills total over the course of three matches and recorded three straight double-doubles.
