BC Hockey Defeats UMass 7 – 0

The Eagles won their first Hockey East game this Tuesday night with an emphatic 7 – 0 shutout over UMass Amherst. This is the 4th shutout in 5 games, a feat that has never been accomplished by the Eagles.

There isn’t too much to talk about, with this one.  BC straight up dominated. There wasn’t any scoring in the first period, but BC led the period in scoring chances. The first BC goal opened up the flood gates in the second, and it seemed as though the Eagles would score every time they got the puck. They controlled the the game, by minimizing shots on Demko and scoring on most of their opportunities. Ultimately they scored 6 goals in the second period and 1 in the third.

Possibly the only downside is that Captain Ryan Fitzgerald will miss this Friday’s game against Maine due to what is being called a cross check (it seemed to be more of a punch in the head) mid way through the 2nd.

The boys have been playing well at home so far and look to continue their dominance against a good Maine team this Friday. Both the offense and defense having been clicking so it will be exciting to see if they can continue playing at such a high level.
