Insider’s Look at Lousiville
By Peter Kim
WZBCSports talked to Ethan Moore of Louisvillesportslive.com about BC’s upcoming game against the Cardinal tomorrow afternoon.
1. Lamar Jackson is once again Louisville’s focal point on offense. The skill players around him get a lot less attention, but who would you consider to be Louisville’s most dangerous weapons outside of Jackson on offense?
Outside of Lamar, Louisville’s best playmaker is WR Dez Fitzpatrick. The redshirt freshman is second in TDs to Jackson and has a knack to get open. He’s got great size as well as reliable hands
2. To have a chance at beating Louisville, it is obviously important to have at least some success containing Lamar Jackson, even though it is clearly difficult to do so. What would you say is the best strategy for attempting to limit Jackson’s production?
The best way to contain Lamar is to shut off outside rushing lanes. Defensive Ends who are able to keep him inside the pocket have had success in keeping him from putting up video game-type numbers.
3. BC’s offense has been struggling to move the ball and they’ll surely need to score a reasonable amount of points to give themselves a chance to pull the upset. What are the ways BC could look to successfully attack the Louisville defense?
If BC could throw the ball, they’d have success. UofL’s secondary has had more holes than Swiss Cheese this season. However, All-ACC CB Jaire Alexander is expected back into the starting lineup and that will be a huge boost for the Cards.
4. Coming into the 2017 season, what were Cardinal fans expectations for the team? How have they been doing relative to expectations?
Most fans expected UofL to go 10-2 and some 9-3 in a worst case scenario. At 4-2 now and out of the Top 25, the Cards are behind in what both the fans and national media expected. Anymore than one more loss going forward and CardNation will be highly agitated.
5. Who wins and why?
Louisville has a lot more team speed and it will show again. BC will keep it competitive, but the Cards win, 34-17.
