Game Predictions - Texas Tech

Game Predictions – Texas Tech

For every Football, Hockey, Basketball, and Baseball game this year, the board members of WZBC Sports will be offering their picks on whether the Eagles will win or lose. Here are our picks for Texas Tech.

TJ Hartnett: The first test for the Eagles comes at the casino. Texas Tech is 2-0, with an overlap game against Maine in which they destroyed the Black Bears by 40 (BC won by 20). For the first time in a long time, BC showed the ability to pull away in a game against an inferior team despite a first half hangover. This is promising. Hawkins has lived up to expectations, Mitchell is a rising stud, and this team as a whole has something about them that is fun to watch. The big “IF” in this game comes from our backcourt with Ky and Jerome. Since leading all scorers with 18 a piece against Maine, both leaders have been picked up by their teammates thus far. These two have the potential to be stars and if they take over the game with backing from the rest of the squad, this team could be dangerous. Unfortunately, I think the first true test for the Eagles goes in the favor of TT and their big men. If BC pulls one win from this weekend, the tourney is a success. TT 80, BC 74

Steve McAlee: Texas Tech blew out their first two opponents just like BC did to their first three. Little insight can be gained from those games, but this matchup presents BC’s first true test. Texas Tech is usually a good program, and were a solid middle-of-the-pack BIG 12 program last year, with wins coming against ranked West Virginia, Kansas State, and Baylor, and a one-point loss to Kansas. The Red Raiders should be the favorites, but Jerome Robinson is playing with an evident swagger that we haven’t seen in Conte Forum for years. I think he proves that BC should be taken seriously this year tomorrow night. BC 76 – Texas Tech 71

Landon Komishane: Texas Tech is the first legitimate opponent for BC, but the Eagles have looked good so far. I expect Ky Bowman and Jerome Robinson to lead the charge and win a close game. BC 69, Texas Tech 66

Matt Seelig: Tech is our first tough opponent, and probably would have been a loss in some of our past seasons. But, the Eagles are looking good, and they should be able to find a win in what is sure to be a close game. Final score: 71 BC – 68 Texas Tech

Kyle Maslan: This game will be the first real challege for a BC team that has looked really good to start off the year. BC keeps the good feeling rolling. BC 77 – Texas Tech 72

Ben Neuwirth: This is a big test for the marron and gold. Texas Tech is a power five school with real big men and guards who aren’t under 6 feet tall, unlike the Eagle’s first 3 opponents. Jerome Robinson will have to snap his cold skid to start the year and while Ky Bowman has been playing well, he’s due for an explosion game. BC might face a talent deficit here but the team is playing hard, well and together. I see victory here. BC 85 Texas Tech 80

Sam Parsons: This ought to be the first game that makes the Eagles break a sweat, as Maine, SC State, and Sacred Heart were proverbial pushovers. I think this will be a very close game, but the improved Eagles will come out on top. BC 77, TTU 74

Andrew Linnehan: This will be both team’s first true test of the season. BC feels well-prepared as their offense is really beginning to gel. Jerome Robinson had a night to forget against Sacred Heart, but Ky Bowman, Steffon Mitchell, and particularly Deontae Hawkins had his back. Hawkins’ phenomenal versatility to play both back-to-the-basket and on the perimeter should be the difference in this one; don’t be surprised if he leads the team in scoring again. His skill and experience should propel BC forward in this game as the Eagles sore to 4-0. BC 81 Texas Tech 73
