High School Stats:
Muse was a Swiss Army knife in high school, playing on both sides of the ball and special teams. He scored in almost every way possible this past season, rushing for 12 touchdowns, passing for two, receiving one, returning one of his three interceptions for a touchdown, and bringing back three kickoffs and one punt to the house. The only thing he was missing this season was the rare fumble return for a touchdown, but we’ll let that slide. He comes out rated as the number two athlete in New Jersey according to Scout.com and the 26th-best overall prospect in New Jersey according to NJ.com.
Addazio’s Take:
“Jahmin Muse, what an athlete. I mean, I love this kid, guys. I mean, I want you to know that. I love him. He is a two-time high school captain, played every position in high school, kickoff, punt. He can play for us right away … I love the kid. I love his family. I love his support system around him.”
Muse on Commitment:
“I chose BC or the academic[s] and being able to play in the ACC. I made my decision based on family. I thought it was a great fit for my family.”
Our Take:
Well folks, you’ve got it straight from the horse’s mouth a few lines up: Addazio believes that Jahmin Muse can come in and play right away for the Eagles. The BC athletics website has Muse coming in as a defensive back for the Eagles. That positional grouping is consistently one of BC’s stronger, so for Coach Addazio to say something like that is a big seal of approval for Muse. Granted, he could be referring to Muse possibly getting involved as a punt/kick returner right away rather than on defense, but even still, eyes should be on him from the get-go. Most scouts anticipated Muse being a wide receiver in college, so a lot of the notes on him aren’t particularly applicable. But, what does translate is that he has great elusiveness, instincts, and physicality. As with any recruit, Muse’s success will depend on his development and transition to the collegiate game. It seems, though, that he is on a fast track to succeed and make an impact here at BC.
