College Radio Day 2016 is on Friday, November 4th, and WZBC Sports is a proud participant in the day to celebrate the unique medium of college radio!
College Radio Day started in 2010 as a small initiative, and today, hundreds of college stations across the country come together to express how important college media expression is for both college campuses and the surrounding communities. Whether it is music, news, talk, or sports, college radio’s ultimate goal is to give student the opportunity to express themselves and simply have fun being immersed in something that they love.
WZBC Sports believes in CRD’s mission, and was lucky enough to send one of its own members, junior Stephen McAlee, to the White House on October 27th with the CRD team to talk with the Obama Administration about college affordability, climate change, and the overall importance and work of the press. Ten different colleges from eight different states were represented at the visit, and Boston College’s sports radio station was honored to have a seat at the table to talk with Brian Deese (Senior Presidential Advisor), Cecilia Munoz (Director of Domestic and Policy Control), Josh Earnest (Press Secretary), and John King Jr (Secretary of Education).
Check out College Radio Day at http://www.collegeradio.org/ and listen in to WVBC AM on Friday, November 4th from 2:00-4:00PM to hear the CRD nation-wide simulcast.
Thank you to everyone at the College Radio Day Foundation, especially Rob Quicke of William Patterson University and Sean McDonald of Neumann Media for inviting WZBC Sports to take part in the great day in Washington D.C.
