Birdball: Ranked.

Winning nine of their last 10 games, Boston College Baseball (20–9, 8–4 Atlantic Coast Conference) continued the hot momentum, taking down No. 9-ranked Virginia (22–7, 7–5 ACC) in this weekend’s series.

The weekend started with a 5–3 win, supplied by an excellent pitching performance from BC’s A.J Colarusso. UVA was unable to break through the Eagles’ defense, as they left multiple runners in scoring position on various occasions; thanks to a very solid middle infield and perhaps the best middle infield in the ACC. Colarusso pitched six innings while recording six strikeouts, getting the win, as Caesar Gonzalez pitched the save.
Senior designated hitter Kyle Wolff drove the Eagles on Friday and Saturday, hitting two home runs. He put BC on the board in game one with a 371-foot homer, and both Nick Wang and Wolff homered in Saturday’s 17–0 win.
Nick Wang continued his dominant season performance for the Eagles, hitting his 11th home run in Saturday’s game. Wang leads the Eagles in home runs, with Jack Toomey being number two, recording three home runs thus far. Wang sits in a joint fourth place for most home runs in all of Division One baseball, and has already tied his totals for home runs when he hit 11 in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Currently with 35 in his career, Wang will continue to be the centerpiece of the Eagles’ electric offense.
BC would ultimately fall 3–1 in Sunday’s contest; however, the Eagles only allowed a total of six runs through three games against the No. 9-ranked team in the nation.
Through the Eagles’ 2–1 series win, and mostly in part due to the 17–0 thrashing on Saturday, Boston College Baseball is ranked for the first time since their historic 2023 season. Coming in at No. 21 in Baseball America’s rankings and No. 22 in D1Baseball rankings, BC will look to keep this momentum rolling.
Looking ahead, BC will return to Brighton to take on regional rival UMaine tomorrow, March 31st, at 3 pm. With 2,563 fans in attendance on Sunday, BC amassed a total count of 4,091 through the three game series. The home crowd will continue to be a factor as Todd Interdonato builds his monster in Brighton.
