BC Hockey: Eagles Fall 4–3 in OT to UConn.
By: Luke Ballard
The Boston College Eagles season met an unfortunate end Friday night, as they fell 4–3 in overtime to the third-seeded UConn Huskies. This loss marks the fifth in the last six games for the Eagles. BC finished at 20–15–1, and 13–11–0 in Hockey East, while finishing the season ranked 18th in the NPI as of today.
BC’s 15 losses are the most in a single season since the 2022–2023 season, where they finished 14–16–6. In seemingly Greg Brown’s worst season yet, the Eagles sported an 8–8 home record at Conte Forum; a drastic drop off from the 2024–2025 and 2023–2024 seasons, where Brown finished 14–3–0 and 16–2–0.
The 11 Hockey East losses are the most for the Eagles since 2022–2023 as well.

As for last night, the Eagles held their own against a strong UConn team. Dean Letourneau capped off his incredible season the two opening goals for BC, while Ryan Conmy buried the third late in the final frame.
In what was a back-and-forth battle with each side trading blows, UConn would find goals from four separate players, including Trey Scott, Ethan Whitcomb, Mike Murtagh, and Tristan Fraser. In the end it would be Fraser who would put the Eagles to bed as two BC defensemen batted the puck out of Louka Cloutier’s glove and into the waiting sticks of UConn’s fourth line.
This errant mistake seemed almost fitting for the Eagles, as it summed up the latter half of the season adequately. As stated in the preview, UConn’s fourth line would prove to be problematic for the Eagles, as the game-winner from Fraser was provided by Jake Percival.
Despite the heart-breaking loss, BC played quite well and gave a valiant effort, ultimately losing on what can be chalked-up to an unfortunate bounce. With James Hagens likely leaving to join the Boston Bruins, as they fight for a playoff spot, BC will have to reevaluate and reload for next year.
UConn will take on eighth-seeded Merrimack who pulled yet another incredible upset, beating number second-seeded UMass 2–0 last night. The two will face off tonight in TD Garden for a spot in the NCAA Tournament and Hockey East glory.
