Eagles and Deacons To Play Saturday Doubleheader

Eagles and Deacons To Play Saturday Doubleheader

By Anthony Iati

With rain in the forecast for Sunday afternoon, Boston College and Wake Forest will bump up the third game of their scheduled series. The Eagles and Demon Deacons will now play a Saturday doubleheader on ALS Awareness Day on the Heights. Game 1 will begin at 11:30 am, with Justin Dunn on the hill for BC opposing Drew Loepprich for Wake Forest. Then, after a 30 minute break plus the jersey retirement ceremony for Pete Frates, BC will send Mike King to the mound against Connor Johnstone.

Wake Forest grabbed a narrow 8-6 win over BC on Friday in a back-and-forth affair. Wake Forest star Will Craig bounced a two-RBI single through the infield to give Wake Forest a 5-4 lead in the 7th inning. Aided by seven hit batsmen from Eagles’ pitching, the Deacons would stretch their lead to 8-4, before BC scratched across two runs late. Parker Dunshee snagged the win for Wake Forest, with Brian Rapp the losing pitcher for BC. Craig moved to the mound to notch his 6th save of the season.

Quinn Kelly will go into further detail of Friday’s game in his weekly Birdball Recall column later this week. You can catch him on the air for WZBC Sports with Michael Graziano, Casey Hague, and Conor Hawley during tomorrow’s doubleheader.
